Sara Strother
In 1999, at the age of 18, my practice began in Hatha yoga with an emphasis on pranayama and meditation. As they continued, I dabbled in a variety of styles such as Ashtanga, hot yoga, and Vinyasa Flow. In 2004 I received my certification from the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara founded by Ganga White and Tracey Rich. Most recently I have been recognized by Anusara Yoga® as an Anusara Inspired Yoga Instructor.
It has been my great pleasure to contribute to the yoga community at Southern Illinois University, in Kitahiroshima, Japan, and now in the depths of the "windy city" of Chicago. After having taught abroad in Japan for 2 years, I feel that wherever I go teaching yoga and volunteering is a great way to connect with neighbors and those of like minded hearts who I may have not met otherwise.
Many teachers have inspired me in the past and continue to do so on a regular basis. Some individuals I've had the pleasure of working with are John Friend, Sianna Sherman, Desiree Rumbaugh, Noah Maze, Darren Rhodes, Sarah Starnes, Ross Rayburn, Geri Bleier, Ganga White, and Tracey Rich.
Part of my philosophy is to continually seek education to better serve students and feed my practice to keep it fresh and dynamic. One can expect a balanced, energetic class with lots of options to explore all physical ability levels. Considerable attention is given to alignment and therapeutics for an optimal experience on and off the mat.
