AJ Durand
AJ Durand first discovered yoga on the dirtiest floor of an ancient building at The Barat Campus of DePaul University where he studied Theatre. Yoga combined with the Alexander Technique for movement first inspired him to study principles of body alignment. His desire to learn and experience the inner workings of the body has led him to many mats on many floors. Since then, AJ has settled into a truly unique hatha-vinyasa practice guided by compassion and intention. AJ is known for his sense of humor and playfulness as well as his enthusiasm and passion while teaching. He brings six years of practice in a variety of traditions to his Yoga classes which focus on mindfulness and psycho-somatic integration. AJ embodies the importance of living an active and expressive lifestyle. His belief that movement is an outward expression of the inner self helps his students experience the transformative benefits of yoga both on and off the mat.
He offers his profound gratitude to Quinn Kearney, Claire Mark, Geri Bleier and Tom Quinn with whom he has found his voice as a teacher. He considers it a true honor to share his practice with the incredible people he meets.
