Brenna Geehan
Brenna Geehan began studying
yoga in 1998. In spring of 2002, she began teaching yoga after receiving
a teaching certificate through Yogiraj Rod Stryker’s Pure
Yoga Level 1 and 2 Teacher Training program. Currently she is working
towards Pure Yoga Level 3 Certification. Brenna has also completed
an Advanced Teacher Training Course that included studying with
Yogiraj Rod Stryker, David Life, Shiva Rea, Doug Keller, Beryl Bender
Birch, and Judith Lasater. Other master yogis that she has studied
with at workshops include Ana Forrest, Tim Miller, Gary Kraftsow,
and Andrey Lappa.
Originally from New York, she came to Chicago 6 years
ago. So far her life work has included painting, photography, set
design for still photography, studying nutrition and herbalism,
and practicing and teaching yoga.
Brenna teaches that each of us has the right and
capacity to realize a life brimming with joy, meaning and purpose.
In her classes, she offers an asana practice that honors a number
of styles including vinyasa flow, tantra, and a soft and fluid approach
that encourages an “inner listening”. She helps transform
students’ bodies to be stronger and more flexible and also
aids in removing mental and emotional obstructions so they may have
a more balanced and healthy energy flow. Her classes include meditation
practices that encourage students to find clarity of mind and peaceful
dispositions. Her mission is to help people find the joyous freedom
that she has found through the practice of yoga.
