This workshop offers yoga teachers and students a deeper understanding of the needs of pregnant practitioners. We will explore the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, learn modifications for poses and breath practices, and discuss contraindications and concerns. This workshop will help all participants build their skills and confidence around adapting a yoga practice for pregnancy and allow teachers to develop more inclusive and accessible group classes.

Abigail Lauren found yoga over a decade ago while completing her undergraduate degree at DePaul University. At first, she used the practice as a distraction from the challenges of daily life; however, as she moved deeper, studied with more teachers, and developed a personal practice, she discovered that yoga teaches the art of attention and self-healing. She believes everyone is capable of love, healing, and tapping into the wisdom of their highest self--thus she believes everyone can practice yoga.
Abigail received her 200-hour yoga teacher certification from Moksha Yoga Center. She specializes in prenatal and postpartum yoga having trained through the Amala School of Prenatal Yoga, and currently volunteers as a Doula with Chicago Volunteer Doulas. She is also influenced by her studies with Gabriel Halpern and is passionate about the therapeutic application of yoga.
