Nature Yoga Sanctuary - Instructors

Kerri Noto

Kerri is a Midwest native who first discovered yoga in a university gymnasium in Paris, while studying abroad in 1997. She soon realized it was "the missing link" that would connect her livelong passions for movement, Eastern philosophy, intention and health/wellness. What she did not expect was for the practice to evolve beyond the body, to a place that would challenge her concept of the mind and everything it has to say. As a "Type A personality," she also loves how yoga instills patience and resilience as we learn to approach each practice both on and off the mat - with newness and without expectation.

Because she love the universe's grace and the flow of things, Kerri is particularly drawn to vinyasa flow practice. she is longtime devotee of Chicago master teachers Daren Friesen, Lindsay Levin and Paul Weitz, and has also been influenced by the teachings of Swami Satyananada Saraswati, Rod Stryker, Duncan Wong, Seane Corn, Kim Schwartz, Baron Baptiste, Ana Forrest, Carolyn Myss, Charlotte Joko Beck, Nicki Doane and Gary Kraftsow.

Kerri completed Moksha's 320-hour teacher training in 2003, and Tias Little's 50-hour Level 1 training in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2004.

Her classes offer a challenging vinyasa flow practice with a focus on intention, alignment, muscular-skeletal connection, svadyaya (self-study) and renewal. Kerri also incorporates Iyengar healing principles and readings from the ygoa sutras and other texts. Kerri teaches with the intention of renewal and exploration, and seeks to give students the opportunity to connect with their own non-judging inner guidance and experience its energizing current for greater creativity, mental/emotional clarity, and the ripple effects of softness and light in their life off the mat.

Kerri holds a B.A. in Economics and French from Middlebury College in Vermont. In addition to teaching at Nature, she has taught at Moksha Yoga, as well as in Bangkok, Thailand. She is delighted to share her practice with others, and is thankful to be in good company on this constant journey of the spirit.
