Nature Yoga Sanctuary - Instructors

Kerry Anne Kronke

Kerry Anne was first introduced to yoga and pranayama in 1992 when she studied Iyengar yoga, as well as "breathing meditation"- which included a technique that is often referred to as "Rebirthing" or "circular breathing" in the west. It was then that she discovered the possibilities to create deep mental, emotional, and physical space (Awareness) though asana and pranayama.

She has since studied and explored many styles of yoga, as well as therapeutic and expressive forms of movement, including: Iyengar, Vinyasa Flow, Astanga,  Feldenkrais (Awareness Through Movement,) butoh...  As a Dance and Choreography major at Columbia College in Chicago, she also studied many forms of dance from Modern to Ballet to African.  Most recently, Kerry Anne has explored muscular retraining exercises, combined with pranayama, bhanda, kriya, and visualization/meditation to move energy efficiently- which has the profoundly therapeutic effect of toning and synchronizing all the systems of the body to enhance overall well being. She teaches unique ways of working with clarity of intention, which can help release the often unconscious effects of cultural presumptions and expectations on the individual that result in defensive reactivity, and various forms of inauthentic personal expression.

Kerry Anne's training spans 20 years and includes work with Tias Little, Aadil Palkhilvala, Gabriel Halpern, Angela Farmer, Rod Stryker, Barbra Benagh, Sean Corn, Micheline Barry, Mark Whitwell, Gary Kraftsaw, among many, many others-- though her most potent teachers are her students. Ultimately, we teach best what we most need to learn.

Her language is sparse and her words carefully selected to encourage students to shed automatic and fixed associations in the mind, which often translate as patterned holding and inefficient movement/pain/struggle in the muscles and nervous system.
She seeks to inspire her students to explore their yoga practice honestly. In the spirit of deep listening she encourages them to seek an individualized approach and combination of techniques that can effectively create an awareness of a Sacred Space within, from which to heal and grow.
