Nature Yoga Sanctuary - Instructors

Lane Fenrich

Lane started yoga in 1993 as a way to reduce severe back pain.  Five years later, he was practicing every day and was more comfortable in his body than he had ever thought possible.  More importantly, he had discovered a community that sustains him through good times and bad.  Over the years, his practice has evolved from a traditional hatha practice to a joyously free-wheeling vinyasa flow.  His philosophy, however, is simple: yoga works.  To borrow a line from the Tao: yoga is a path without a destination.  The important thing isn't whether we arrive, but just that we make the effort.  Accordingly, his classes encourage students to try what seems impossible (it rarely is) and to be happy with whatever they achieve.  The effort is everything.

Lane has been privileged to work with a number of master teachers including Quinn Kearney, Tom Quinn, Claire Mark, Geri Bleier, and his good friend, Scott Harig, each of whom deepened his love of yoga in all its forms.  His most important teachers, though, have been the good friends he has made while practicing: amazing human beings who astonish and inspire him on an almost daily basis.
