Lewis Waddle
A Chicago native from birth, Lewis stumbled into yoga desperately in need of positive change. Lewis says, "Through yoga, I became more physically aware and mentally grounded; which all led to a new sense of peace, contentment, control, and reserve in all regards." In the Summer of 2000 he found Moksha Yoga Center where he has diligently studied with master teachers which eventually led to the completion of the 2006 Moksha Teacher Training Program under the leadership of Daren Friesen.
Lewis is a strong believer of body before mind; promoting the importance of breath, alignment, and concentration in one's practice until it becomes second nature next to developing mental clarity and moves the students' practice further and deeper into feeling and sensation, rhythm, and creating symmetry and balance.
Lewis, who also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from Columbia College, utilizes music to establish a sense of internal rhythm in the students practice. “If it is a yogic belief that we are all one within the cosmos, then it is important for the teacher to be able to develop techniques in order to have the entire classroom in physical and mental synchronization with each other. Music can help establish that internal rhythm within the student and when the class is breathing and moving simultaneously with each other, the collective energy between the students becomes much more powerful.”
Since becoming a CYT, Lewis continues to assist Daren Friesen in creating new teachers through Moksha Yoga’s Teacher Training Program.
