Mona Villarreal
Mona has always had a passion for fitness, including 10 years dance and 5 years kickboxing experience. However, yoga was still calling...
In 1986 Mona woke up to a chronic back pain that persisted for many years to follow. No longer able to dance or participate in any athletics left her feeling hopeless. Invited to a yoga class one day by a friend, the connection was still missing until the overwhelming spiritual connection was made through asana with breath.
Mona instantly knew she wanted to help others and craved a lifestyle change. Experiencing an ashram living teacher training course, her life and chronic back pain began to change.
Although still living with the sensitivity of back pain, yoga did save her is so many ways. "Building muscle and strength within your spine, mind and heart can heal anyone."
What sets Mona apart is her ability to instinctively understand each individual's asana. "What cobra or locust may be for me, may not be the same for you. Just snowflakes - not one of us is the same." Through intuition and insight, Mona embraces learning, sharing yoga as her calling, and teaching with a sense of humor and compassion.
