300 Hour Advanced Level Teacher Training Program

October 2017 - December 2018

Nature Yoga Sanctuary announces our first ever 300 hour advanced level Yoga Teacher Training program. This program will expand your knowledge and understanding of teaching yoga as well as deepen your personal experience of yoga. We will delve more deeply into the practice of asana as well as other yogic practices that are not always able to be covered deeply during the course of a 200 hour training.

In addition to expanding your knowledge and skills of teaching, this training offers an immersive experience of yogic lifestyle. There will be regular homework related to asana, pranayama, concentration, and meditation techniques.

Topics covered include:
Asana practice and sequencing
Chapter-by-chapter book studies of several important yogic texts
Pranayama practice and teaching
Mantra practice and teaching
Concentration and Meditation practice and teaching
Assisting and adjusting
Teaching to special populations
Ayurvedic lifestyle practices
Storytelling for yoga teachers
The ethics of teaching yoga
Promoting inclusivity and creating a safe space for students
Introduction to Sanskrit language
Lots of opportunity to refine and practice teaching

This training is unique in that it is not made up of a collection of workshops or modules and there are NO additional costs associated with this training outside of the tuition and books required. You do not need to pay anything additional in order to complete the requirements of the training. This should be taken into account when considering the tuition costs. All 270 contact hours will be facilitated through our meetings together as a group together with lead trainer, Gopi Om. This will allow for a cohesive group experience and facilitate a powerful collective consciousness as we move through this experience together.

Unlimited classes at both Nature Yoga Sanctuary locations for the duration of the training are also included in the cost of tuition. This program is registered with the Yoga Alliance and Nature Yoga Sanctuary is a Yoga Alliance registered school.

Lead Trainer Bio:

Gopi Om (Nicole Sopko) first discovered yoga by chance and was instantly intrigued. She attended her first teacher training with the sole intention of learning more about the practice, but discovered the teachings of yoga to be so transformational that she couldn't keep them to herself and began teaching in 2005. Shortly after, her practice grew immensely due to the discovery and subsequent influence of her beloved Guru, Sri Dharma Mittra, who gave her the name Gopi.

Gopi has completed the advanced level (500 hour & 800 hour) Life of a Yogi teacher trainings at the Dharma Yoga Center in New York with Sri Dharma. She feels blessed to have received and to carry on his teachings. She strives to live every moment as an offering to the divine and to pass on the teachings of yoga as they have been generously shared with her. She is a vegan of over 20 years who knows that veganism was her first yogic practice in embracing compassion for all beings. A believer in the power of yoga as a lifestyle, Gopi feels that a playful yoga practice enables a person to approach the more mundane aspects of life with a lighter heart and a more accepting attitude. Her yogic journey has played a big role in her life and she feels lucky to have the opportunity to share that journey with others.

Gopi is the owner/director of Nature Yoga Sanctuary locations in Wicker Park and Oak Park, IL. Additionally, she works alongside her life partner, Dan, in the operation of his natural foods company, Upton's Naturals, and vegan cafe, Upton's Breakroom.

Must have completed a 200 hour teacher training (please submit certificate with application).

In order to make the most of the teachings and because this is an immersive lifestyle program, a vegan diet and intoxicant-free lifestyle is strongly encouraged during the duration the training.
